Lunch 'n Learn: Project Connect

Capital Metro President and CEO Randy Clarke gave a great presentation on Tuesday about Cap Metro's plans to jump-start Austin's use of public transit. Just shy of one year on the job, Clarke, whose most recent position was with the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) in Washington, D.C., focused his discussion on "Project Connect." Its vision is to create a complete system of reliable and frequent transit with congestion-proof services that operates free from other traffic. In other words, dedicated lanes — at grade, aboveground or underground — will be needed in a significant way to make the vision a reality. Clarke spoke at the Center for Austin's Future's second Lunch 'n Learn speaker series.

Prior to the APTA, Clarke spent seven years in various positions with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in Boston, including deputy chief operating officer.
